ESL 57, Reassembling the ESL 57 (Hans Zeeuwe)
Over the years I managed to obtain six Quad ESL's. The first two served me very well untill a few years ago. The other two pairs had flaws as I bought them but they weren't expensive. I repaired a treble panel with the help of Sheldon D. Stokes articles, stacked the two best speakers below my original two and I was a very happy listener. Then my original pair began to malfunction.
At this time I contacted One Thing Audio and we came to an agreement. They completely refurbished all 18 panels, as well as the six EHT supplies. I also received the electronics to replace the electronics in the audio transformers and six clamp boards.
On the next pages you will find a photo tour of the reassemblance of a stacked pair of Quad ESL 57's. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the disassembling process.
