How it all started
Many years ago, One Thing founder, Steve Williams, came across this peculiar object in a Council skip. After careful examination, it was obvious that it was some sort of collender or archaeologist's seive. Unfortunately, it didn't work very well as some bright spark had placed a plastic film in between the two perforated plates rendering it useless for this function. Anyone out there any better ideas as to its identification?
Modern Times
Deep bass extension in electrostatic speakers can be achieved in one of two ways: by passing the work over to a conventional loudspeaker or 'subwoofer' (a practice frowned upon in some quarters) or simply by extending the radiating surface area of the electrostatic panel. The picture shows Paul Allen addressing this problem with his latest gargantuan panel stamping machine, which he intends to put into service once he has figured out a way of extricating the Beast from his workshop.
