Introduction

Quad 57 owners have asked us to clarify, or particularise, the work carried out and the difference between our 'Standard' and 'Total' rebuilds.

Standard rebuild

  1. Speakers totally stripped down to their component parts.
  2. Frames repaired, if necessary, sanded down and re sprayed
  3. Audio transformer tested, old components scrapped and superior modern components with a higher rating substituted. Encasement re sprayed and new 4mm sockets fitted.
  4. Heavy duty clamp board fitted (One Thing Audio part no: CLP4
  5. Owners's original bass panels will be re-used if after extensive work on the stators, they meet our minimum performance criteria. If they do not, we will contact you with our recommendations.
  6. New treble panel fitted
  7. Superior EHT board fitted (One Thing RBT4) with independent bass and treble drives.
  8. New internal cabling throughout.

Total rebuild

  1. Speakers totally stripped down to their component parts.
  2. Frames repaired, if necessary, sanded down and re sprayed
  3. Audio transformer tested, old components scrapped and superior modern components with a higher rating substituted. Encasement re sprayed and new 4mm sockets fitted.

  5. All bass panels rebuilt to high specification. Original Quad treble panels replaced with One Thing's newly developed OTEC panels.
  6. Superior EHT board fitted (One Thing RBT4) with independent bass and treble drives.
  7. New internal cabling throughout.

Optional Extras

  1. Original Bulgin AC sockets replaced with later IEC type. Add £28
  2. If either neon light is malfunctioning, both will be replaced with later type. Add £15

  4. Owner's wooden end pieces: sanded down and re-sprayed to original finish (or to match finish of our stands): £40.
  5. Attractive fabric covers fitted (only recommended if grilles are the worst for wear!) Finishes: Black, Dark Brown. £80.00 per pair.
  6. Professional respray of grilles in black acrylic where condition of grilles permit - £80.
