  1. Spikes. Fit these if you have carpeted floors. The nut can be 'nipped' to secure the fixture once the spike has been set to clear the carpet pile.
  2. Screw the tilt adjusters through the underside of the speaker mounting platform into their captive threads so that the bolt is level with the surface and does not protrude.
  3. Sit the ESL57 onto the stand, ensuring that it is central (observe the rear of the speaker: the length of the.platform coincides with the speaker's central geometry). Don't worry if the speaker will not sit perfectly flat due to protruding bolts in the base of the speaker -some degree of tilt will always be necessary, so protruding bolts etc. will not be a problem.
  4. Experiment time! Experiment with degree of tilt by screwing in tilt adjusters an equal number of turns. the degree of tilt must be judged subjectively: it will be governed by factors such as optimum dispersion, height of listening chair(s) and most critically, distance away from the loudspeakers. The top line of the speakers will certainly need to come forward - the absolute maximum being a 'vertical' setting (this would be considered excessive in most environments). If prefered, to make the speaker more stable during these experiments it is not a bad idea to LO0SELY fit the front (shorter of the two provided) screws to allow the speaker to 'pivot' -avoiding the risk of the speaker sliding forward (although the speaker's weight distribution makes this unlikely).
  5. Finally, with the tilt settled upon, use the shorter screws (if not already fitted) and the two longer screws through the two rear platform holes to secure the speaker to the platform. No 'pilot' is necessary -the type of screw provided will penetrate the.base of the speaker with just moderate pressure applied.
  6. SIT BACK AND ENJOY !
